Planning A Super Teen Party

This is my favorite event to plan.... Whether its a super sweet sixteen a quincetera, or a Bar/Bat Mitzvah, it's always fun to brainstorm with a teen and create a fabulous event.
We love to find a detail that is important to the parents and the teen. We spend hours listening to the guest of honor, we scope out their room, we ask about favorite foods, music, favorite movies, activities and more. We listen even when they don't think that we are. Every teen wants a theme or look for their party and we try to find a thread that will be different and have the guests be blown away. Color always works... choosing colors that pop along with good lighting make the room come alive, generate energy and make the guests want to party.
When I was asked to plan a fabulous Sweet 16,the meeting included the beautiful popular Sweet 16 to be, her mom and her grammy. Everyone came from a different point of view but all wanted something exciting and colorful. We decided on the look- bo-chic meets Morroco meets Bollywood. The favorite colors were hot pink, orange and plum.  To complete the look the guest of honor wore a recreation of a cleopatra dress... she was breathtaking. The cake of harem pillows followed our vision.

The hot pink invitation adorned w an orange crystal set the tone. We found a paisley design that we converted to these colors and laminated the back. The look wascompleted with a paisley stamp. FABULOUS!
The decor was wonderful, but the hilight for this teen was a dj who played her dance music, a break dancer and a famous teen heart throb to take her breath away.

I REMEMBER MAMA

I REMEMBER MAMA...

AS THE JEWISH NEW YEAR APPROACHES, IT BRINGS BACK MEMORIES OF MY CHILDHOOD AND THE SMELLS FROM MY MOTHER’S KITCHEN. THAT WONDERFUL FRAGRANCE SIGNALED ROSH HASHANAH TO ME.

MY MOTHER HAD SO MUCH TO DO AND THAT PREPARATION STARTED WEEKS BEFORE THE HOLIDAY. SILVERWARE WAS POLISHED, LINENS PRESSED, FLOORS WASHED AND SHINED AND ORDERS PLACED TO THE FISH MONGER, BUTCHER AND BAKER. ALL OF THESE RITUALS OF GETTING READY BROUGHT ORDER TO OUR HOUSEHOLD AND A SENSE OF SECURITY TO ME.

THE COOKING AND BAKING BEGAN EARLY IN THE WEEK, GEFILTE FISH MADE FROM SCRATCH,CHOPPED CHICKEN LIVERS MADE TASTY WITH FRIED ONIONS, MATZOH BALLS AND MEAT KREPLACH SERVED IN A RICH CHICKEN SOUP THAT WAS OVERFLOWING WITH VEGETABLES AND DILL, BEEF BRISKET LADEN WITH CARROTS AND ROASTED POTATOS, FOLLOWED BY DESSERTS OF SWEETS THAT INCLUDED HONEY CAKE, TEA AND RUGALACH. AS AN ADULT MY PALATE HAS EVOLVED FOR A MUCH FINER CUISINE. BUT REMEMBERING THAT TIME, BRINGS BOTH A TEAR AND A SMILE.

THAT BEAUTIFUL SEASON OF LONG AGO PAINTS A PICTURE AND MEMORIES OF A TABLE SET WITH SILVER CANDLABRA,STARCHED WHITE LINEN, BOWLS OF HONEY AND APPLES AND HOME MADE CHALLAH, A FAMILY TOGETHER WITH LOTS OF FOOD, LOVE AND GOOD WISHES.YES I REMEMBER MAMA AND I WISH THAT I COULD HAVE ONE MORE ROSH HASHANAH WITH HER AGAIN…

Spice Up a Cocktail Party!

When it comes to a cocktail party at DBR events, sometimes how its served matters most! Here is a unique pairing to whet your imagination.

How about a mini 2" steamer with dumplings, 3.5" bamboo tongs serving a refreshing herb grilled shrimp and ice cold sake served in a unique tray.

Complete the atmosphere with hot Brazilian jazz, and voila!

A Zen Inspired Party...Think Red!

It was time to step out of the conventional box and into the world of zen with this unique themed birthday party. The event had a particularly large amount of small details that catered to the client and her lifestyle. Just the kind of party we love to work on. To view more of this unique event visit http://www.dbrevents.com/ .

When it came to the invitation, we created the perfect introduction to the event by giving the invitees a taste of what's to come.
Custom placecards with attached gold tassels add even more mystery and drama to the evening.

Instead of the traditional table numbers, we thought that zen-like words such as love, peace, harmony, etc. was more our client's personality. Take note of the matching gold tassel on the menu that was also on the placecards.

It wouldn't be zen without Buddha making an appearance, as seen here at the bar.
Serve lychee martinis, cold sake and soju over shaved ice, have bowls of crystalized ginger for snacking.

Use this look for any event including a wedding!
